Prefixes
As you go through this exercise,
note that a word's root or stem is its foundation,
and new meanings or variations are created
when prefixes or suffixes are added.
For example, scrib(e) is Latin for write;
scribble = meaningless writing
describe = to tell or depict in writing
inscribe = to mark with words or characters
prescribe = to designate remedies, treatment
prescription = to direct what and how a medicine is taken, or the medicine itself
